Asking for and Recognizing Signs from Your Departed Pet (Messages from the Rainbow Bridge)

Signs from a departed pet

What happens to our pets when they die? What happens to the soul energy of a pet after death? I’m not exactly sure as I haven’t died yet and I am currently in human form, although I suspect animal or human, we might have the same fate after the death of our physical bodies. I can tell you what my personal belief is. After our beloved animals pass away, I believe the vital energy that once animated them, their very spirit, lives on beyond their physical form. It’s our opportunity to connect with this unseen presence, a connection that goes beyond what we can see or touch. The energy of unconditional love is eternal and it’s up to us to anchor ourselves in it. One of the most comforting things for pet owners, is the ability to recognize signs from a departed pet.

Connecting Through Signs

There are many ways to connect with the loving energy of a pet who has passed away. You can continue to have conversations with them, you can take intentional moments of prayer or meditation to connect with them, or you may enjoy connecting with them through signs. The latter happens to be my favorite form of connection with a deceased loved one, whether they were in human form or animal form during their lifetime.

Laura Lynn Jackson’s Insights

Years ago, I read Signs: The Secret Language of the Universe by Laura Lynn Jackson. Laura is a psychic medium, and in her book, she explains how to communicate with the departed and how to ask them for signs that they are still with you. If this topic interests you, I highly recommend you pick up a copy of her book. While her book isn’t specifically about pets, it will certainly provide you context, methods, and ideas for communicating with a pet after death. Two of Laura’s main points in the book are this: if you want a sign, you must be specific and you must ask for it. Of course, after doing that, you must also pay attention enough to notice the signs you requested.

In a prior blog post, I wrote about my Bertie’s death in 2020 and how difficult that loss was. What made it even harder was that Bertie left behind his BFF (best furry friend), Tango. Tango and Bertie were always together, from the very day we brought Tango home to introduce him to our Bert-Bert. Rarely were they ever apart. Where one was, the other was not far away. I loved it when they used to sleep curled up together – one solid black, and one multitudes of gray. They seemed like yin and yang in cat form.

Tango’s Message: The Significance of the numbers ’88’

After Tango suddenly died in July of 2024, one thing that brought me some pet loss support was asking Tangy for a sign that he was still with me, energetically. One day, as I was driving in my car, and missing him fiercely, I said aloud, “Tangy boy, send me the number 8 to let me know you are still with me.” I trusted that his presence was still with me, and that he knew exactly what I needed. Dear reader, prepare yourself to be mind-blown! What unfolded next was quite remarkable and remains to be so every single day. One of the most beautiful aspects of grief is when we begin to notice and understand signs from a departed pet.

Finding Eternal Love in Signs from a Departed Pet

I have mentioned these 88 phenomena to many close friends. Recently, I went on a trip with a friend, and it involved a three-hour car ride each way. We spotted 88 no less than 6 times, each way. I wasn’t surprised at all; this happens to me every single day. It seemed to also delight my friend who has heard me report my 88 sightings regularly. On the days that I am missing Bertie and Tango most I receive more signs from beyond than I can even count. It is a constant reminder that they are always with me, even if I can’t see them.

It is a constant reminder that they are always with me, even if I can’t see them. When I asked Tango to send me 8s, it was an intuitive request. What has dawned on me since my request is that the shape of the 8 is that of an infinity loop. Infinity: for ever and ever and ever. It is a constant reminder that love remains after death, it endures infinitely. There is nothing as exquisite as the love of our cherished pets and I hope that you can find comfort after pet loss in the signs from a departed pet, that they remain a part of you, always and forever.

Learning to recognize and understand signs from a departed pet can be a very healing process. What signs are you asking for?
