A Moment of Light for a Pet Remembered: A Guided Reflection - Biscuit & Bertie

A Moment of Light for a Pet Remembered: A Guided Reflection

Candle being lit - Remembering a pet

It has been an exciting time at Biscuit & Bertie. Earlier this week we wrapped up our first ever giving initiative: Be the Light

Be the Light offered a unique opportunity for our Biscuit & Bertie family to sponsor the donation of a Comfort Box to someone in need, for a special price of $88. Our initiative was exciting and very successful. Throughout the month of April, we will be distributing 34 Biscuit & Bertie Comfort Boxes to veterinary clinics throughout the greater Twin Cities of Minnesota. We are eager to offer up a ripple of goodness, love, and healing to those who are navigating the very dark days after the death of a pet.

I want to take this opportunity to use the theme of our initiative and turn it into something meaningful for you, right now, as we focus on remembering a pet. I invite you to participate in a brief candle-lit moment, honoring a departed pet that you love deeply. To do this, you will need a few minutes of uninterrupted time and space. You will also need a candle and a way to light the candle.

When you’re ready, light your candle. Take a deep breath in through your nose, and exhale slowly out your mouth with a sigh. Take two more breaths just like that.

Now that you’re present and grounded in this moment, read this affirmation/prayer:

As this flame flickers, I honor the love that still shines brightly in my heart.

Though my cherished companion is no longer by my side, their spirit lives on in every memory, every whisper of the wind, and every beat of my heart.

I am grateful for the joy, comfort, and unconditional love we shared, a bond that time cannot erase.

May this light be a symbol of the love that remains, forever guiding me with warmth and peace.

I send my love to them now, knowing that love, once given, never fades.

This guided reflection offers a gentle space for remembering a pet and acknowledging the enduring love you hold for them.

You can read this as many times as feels right to your heart and spirit. Add loving words to your beloved furry family member, if you desire to. This is your time to remember, to honor, and to lean into the fullness of the love that never dies. May this moment of light bring you a sense of peace and connection as you continue remembering a pet who brought so much joy to your life.

In love & light-
